About Us

The nursery owner Yve Butterfield MEd, is an experienced Early Years Specialist Teacher and Assistant Head Teacher at a local Primary School. The senior staff members Jayne, Nursery Manager and Carrol, Deputy Manager are both highly qualified and very experienced practitioners.

We positively encourage you to take an active part in the children's development and therefore welcome regular dialogue to keep you informed of their progress.

                   We aim to:

                    >  Provide a loving, safe and happy environment for your child to play,
                        learn and make new friends.

                    >  Offer  t
he children ’free flow’ access to a wide variety of exciting
structured indoor play activities and experiences.

                    >  Encourage a sense of adventure and discovery in our large outdoor
play area and our very own 'Acorn Woods'.

                    >  Promote independence, and support the development of their self

esteem in an exciting and rewarding way.

Children's Learning Journey

Your child’s development is built up over the year in a portfolio for you to share and contribute to through regular formal parent consultations and informal chats.

Ongoing observations and assessments take place throughout the year by the key worker and discussed with all the staff. A key worker will be responsible for your child throughout his/her life at Acorn Nursery in order to build up a warm, close and
happy relationship.

Breaks and Lunchtimes

We provide healthy snacks of fruit and vegetables at morning and afternoon snack times. Milk and water are provided as a healthy drink.

We positively promote a healthy eating policy and encourage those children staying for lunch to bring a healthy packed lunch, including fruit, vegetables and a healthy drink.
